COVID-19 update 26 March 2020
A few changes to how we’re working at Gippsland Gastro. The Office door is now shut and is very likely to remain so for the next month or two, but our staff are still busy working hard. If you need to contact us please call on 51742988 (AND LEAVE A MESSAGE!) or even better if you can email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. We have been receiving a lot of calls at this time so all we can promise at the moment is that we will do our best to call you back within 2 business days. Currently, Email can be responded to faster than that.
Appointments for the next two months will be Telehealth via telephone. We have a very large number of very vulnerable patients who visit our clinic and all of our Specialists work at Public Hospitals. We apologize for the inconvenience but our intention is to keep all as safe as possible and limiting contact and allowing patients to access medical care from their own home is the best way to ensure that at this time. Prescriptions, Pathology/radiology request forms etc will be mailed out after appointments.
In case of an emergency, please call 000 or call your nearest Emergency Department.
The Government has instituted restrictions on elective surgeries that will impact patients who are waiting for Gastroscopies and Colonoscopies at Public Hospitals, as part of the response to COVID-19 . We are working on determining which of our patients may be impacted and will notify patients as soon as we can. If your procedure has been placed on hold, we will attempt to organise an appointment with your Gastroenterologist as soon as practical to discuss options if required.
Please do not call the Hospital, they are already working extremely hard to manage this crisis. We will do our best to keep you informed. We will do our best to contact those on the waiting list in the next week.
Your patience is appreciated.
Important To Remember
We have a 24 hour cancellation policy when cancelling or re-scheduling an appointment. New patients may wait up to six weeks for an appointment. Appropriate notice allows time for your appointment to be re-allocated to someone else. Patients who fail to attend an appointment without notice will be given the next available, which may involve a 6-8 week wait.
Gippsland Gastro does NOT provide a 24hr medical service. If you require urgent medical care call 000 or attend your local hospitals emergency department.
